How do you measure God's goodness?

Do you measure it by how little you suffer?

If you do, well, then you're probably going to conclude he's not very good.

Or not very good at keeping bad things away from you. If you measure God's love by how

easy your life feels, then you're going to start to think that he doesn't love you. If you measure

God's faithfulness by how much disappointment or how much grief you've had to endure in your

life, you're going to begin to question whether God

is faithful at all. So here's the bottom line. You and I will suffer in this life. And it's not because

God's plan has failed. It's not because he doesn't love us, but because our suffering is actually an essential part of God's good plan for you and for me.

So when life seems to be falling apart, when you're disappointed, when you experience loss or fear or pain,

unexpected challenges come knocking on your door, that is not

evidence that God has forgotten you. It's not proof that he doesn't care. It doesn't mean that

he is favoring other people instead of you, and it doesn't mean that he's not hearing your prayers.

All of those moments are not outside of God's plan for you.

They are his plan.
