I am in Southern Italy on this great trip with some friends and a little disconnected

from the real world in all sorts of ways.

So I am not super granular on the latest stuff.

I do gather that things are going about as stupidly as they had been when I left the states

a few days ago in terms of the effort to find a new speaker for the House of Representatives.

I read Nick Katoje on it and it seemed to be, I was like, it's reassuring how it's all

just still really stupid.

And obviously I've been staying up on the Israel front.

I did miss Biden's speech last night, so I don't have any real opinions on it one way

or the other.

I first learned of it when I saw that on Twitter, Brett Hume was being savaged for daring

to say that Biden's speech was good, so I'm going to defer to Brett Hume's judgment

on that and assume it was probably pretty good.

I saw that JD Vance is outraged that Biden wants to support Ukraine as well as Israel

and he's saying stupid things as JD Vance often does these days about how unfair and cruel

it is to exploit Israel to help Ukraine.

I think JD Vance's descriptions of foreign policy are largely bootbait and silly, and

I find it very, very difficult to take him seriously on a lot of things, but particularly
