I'm Mary Meckley and welcome back to day three of our series.

0:12.7

This week we are exploring an important theme.

0:17.5

The theme this week is finding your purpose in life and then living it. In each episode

0:29.4

of this week's series, you are guided using a different meditation technique. These are techniques you can do any time, whether you're

0:40.8

meditating or maybe you're right in the midst of a stressful moment. The technique I'll be sharing

0:51.0

with you today is a breathing technique that layers together an affirmation.

0:57.3

I like to share techniques layered together because it makes them that much more powerful.

1:06.4

The more ways you can combine techniques to help you calm your mind and body, the faster you'll begin

1:15.3

to notice yourself let go of distractions and restless thoughts. Breathing techniques are also

1:23.1

one of the best ways to refocus your mind when your mind wanders, when negative thoughts

1:32.4

creep in or your to-do lists pops in your mind right as you're meditating. Focus on your

1:38.8

breath for a few moments. Repeat a positive, uplifting affirmation. You'll find that you begin to calm your mind and body and emerge back into inner stillness

1:53.0

sometimes it can be difficult to do this and you might find that you're meditating without really going very deep

2:03.6

into a sense of stillness and that's okay because meditation is a ritual that requires

2:15.6

practice consistency and patience.

2:20.3

It's not unlike any other endeavor you undertake, such as maybe exercise.

2:28.3

Some days you feel stronger when you exercise.

2:32.3

Maybe you had a great night's sleep or you fueled yourself

2:37.0

really well. Meditation is the same way. Expect that you'll have days that are more difficult

2:44.0

to focus than others. The most important thing you can do is to keep showing up and allow yourself to sit with yourself and be present with yourself through whatever emotion or mood you happen to be processing on that day.

3:03.4

I'd love to hear from you and hear how your meditation ritual is coming along.
