Summary

Today on the podcast is the elite duo of Parker Wolfe and Ethan Strand.

If you're not familiar with Parker or Ethan, they are two of the greatest (if not THE) runners in Tar Heel history.

Parker won the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Title in the 5k, taking down debately one of the most stacked fields of all time. Parker also placed 9th at the 2023 NCAA XC National Championships and 7th at the 2024 edition, and placed 2nd in both the 5k and 3k at the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Championships.

Ethan has the school record in the Mile running a 3:54.62, is an ACC Champion, NCAA All-American in both track and XC, a finalist in the 1500m at the 2024 US Olympic Trials, and most recently placed 8th at the 2024 NCAA XC National Championships.

Both are also NIL athletes for NIKE.

In today's conversation, Parker and Ethan recap their XC season, including exclusive insights and stories from the ups and downs of the season. We also dive into their friendship and how that has evolved over the years, how they've become leaders within the UNC program, their ambition for their track season, their bet going into the BU 3k this weekend, and so much more.

This conversation was both insightful and a ton of fun. I hope you will take the time to be enlightened by the wisdom of two of the best NCAA runners we've seen in quite some time.

We probably tried to, you know, minip the bone like 30 times, 40 times over the weekend.

And I finally got it to like feel like it clicked back into place.

And like immediately, like a lot of my pain went away, like in my arch and like all over the foot.

0:17.0

And so I remember calling Milt that night and telling him like, I like I like a lot of my pain's gone like

0:21.3

I feel really good I think we got a shot at this and like I was still very cautiously optimistic

0:25.9

that like I'd be able to run for the season.

0:31.5

That's Parker Wolf today on my podcast with him and his good friend and teammate and also former podcast guest, Ethan Strand.

0:40.4

Today's conversation was a really fun one because I've had both Parker and Ethan on the podcast

0:44.7

a handful of times individually, but as they are teammates and two of the best runners in the

0:49.6

NCAA, I wanted to get them both on the podcast right after they finished their cross-country season

0:54.2

and right before they kick off their indoor track season this weekend with a 3K where they are

0:59.3

facing off head to head.

1:00.9

They joke about it, talk about it in today's conversation, which was a fun moment in this

1:05.0

conversation.

1:05.5

But I really thoroughly enjoyed getting to sit down with both of them and talk about their

1:10.3

friendship, being teammates,

1:11.9

being leaders on the men's team at North Carolina, their journey and progression throughout

1:16.5

the years, how they've benefited one another, their ambitions for the future.

1:20.5

We also talk about both of their cross-country seasons individually.

1:23.9

For Ethan, he absolutely knocked it out of the water.

1:27.0

He placed eighth in the country as a guy who I think would consider himself not the biggest fan of cross-country. And then Parker, on the other hand, as he details, I think for the first time publicly in this conversation, had a massive injury and setback mid-season where he got to the point where I didn't even think he was going to be able to run the

national meet to then running the national meet and placing seventh at it and beating Ethan by
