Good morning, everyone. It's my distinct pleasure to welcome you all to the Center for European Legal Studies and the Ukrainian Catholic University School of Law joined webinar on the impact of Russia's illegal war against Ukraine

on the EU legal order. My name is Marcus Gehring. I was director of the Centre for European Legal Studies,

and I'm going to chair this webinar this morning or afternoon,

depending on your time zone.

It gives me an enormous pleasure to host not just our distinguished speaker, Dr. Luigi Leonardo, but also our

colleagues from the Ukrainian Catholic University based in Leviv, Dr. Natalia Haletska, who's going to welcome us,

and I will later introduce Professor Taras Lesh Kovic and Dr. Maxim Koliba as respondents to our speaker.

Natalia is a senior lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University School of Law.

She's chair of the Commission of European Integration and International Cooperation

at the Levief Regional Council.

And she's a member of the Leviv Regional Board of the Ukrainian Bar Association, Dr. Halitska, Natalia, you've got the floor.

This is a webinar which starts a very fruitful

cooperation between the Cambridge University Center of European Legal Studies and the Ukrainian

Catholic University School of Law. Indeed, since the full-scale Russian invasion into Ukraine

in February 2022.

Much has been written.

Many articles, many books, but the book we will be discussing today is really an important

piece of research which lays a very interesting foundation to be discussed.

It combines legal analysis with a political, diplomatic analysis,

with analysis how all we can win, how can we move closer, the peace and stability and the victory

of Ukraine. This is a really very important discussion. So it is my pleasure that we can join our efforts in this mutually
