My guest today is Joe Gursack.

Joe is a painter living in New Jersey.

He paints a broad range of subjects including interiors, still lifes, and landscapes.

Joe is the resident artist for Utreck and Blick art supplies where he gets to play with materials

and talk with the people who make them.

In this episode, Joe and I talk about his journey as an artist, how he went from working at

a warehouse at Hyundai to signing on as a resident artist with Utract.

We also talk about his process and how he develops a painting.

What fascinates him and how he keeps himself from drifting from his original idea.

Joe likes to investigate his surrounding and finds infinite possibilities for paintings

all around him. A critical part of Joe's progress as a painter was seeking out

mentors so we talk about his relationships with other artists and how much other

artists have helped him along the way. It was his brother who recommended that Joe start writing

as a part of his artistic development.
