Today we have another special interview podcast planned for you with journalist John Schwartz been following John's work for a long

time before he was hired at the Intercept John used to write on an excellent blog called Tiny

Revolution he was continuously dropping these obscure references to neocons. So I've decided to bring on

John today to talk about the illustrious and horrific career of neoconservative policy wonk and

former and now current member of the U.S. government, Elliot Abrams.

John wrote a couple excellent pieces about Elliot Abrams, one right after the appointment of him

inside Trump's State Department, and another article about his confrontation with

Representative Ilhan Omar. Before joining First Look, John worked for Michael Moore's

Dog Eat Dog Films. It was researcher, producer for Moore's Capitalism, A Love Story. He's

contributed to a bunch of different publications, including The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times,

Wall Street Journal, Mother Jones,

and Slate, as well as NPR. In 2003, he collected on a $1,000 bet that Iraq would have no weapons

of mass destruction. So without further ado, here's our interview with John Swartz going

through the history of Elliot Abrams.

Elliot Abrams appeared to have gotten his start in politics in the mid-70s, working as a

staffer for Senator Scoop Jackson and later for daniel moynahan

both hawkish democratic senators specifically scoop jackson um is someone who you hear come up over and over again

from these influential neo-conservative figures richard pearl and paul wulfowitz also served at one time as his aides.

And Robert Kagan and Bill Crystal used to refer to a specific type of hawkish Democrat as a
