Summary
After Christmas, Paige helped her aging mother pack away decorations and settle the house back into its usual quiet routine. At first, the strange things felt small enough to ignore—a misplaced knife, a missing photograph, little absences that seemed more irritating than alarming.
But the house didn’t feel empty after the holidays. It felt active.
As more objects disappeared, the atmosphere inside the home began shifting into something heavier and more deliberate.
