Last time, we covered the history of the Russian Orthodox Church

from its legendary beginning with the visit of the Apostle Andrew to the time of troubles.

I want to admit a little bit of a mistake in the last episode as I made mention that I did not go over the schism as I would likely cover it separately.

Actually I'll be going it over in today's episode as it had its start during the reign

of Zorolexy after the time of troubles.

And one of the things about this era that we're going to be discussing, it's known as the Patriarchate

era, and the Patriarch is the actual real head of the church and in Moscow and most of Russia all we had

were metropolitan and we had patriarchs who were Greek. They came from

Constantinople, Jerusalem, and Antioch.

Well, Russia wanted one of their own.

And during this time, right before the time of troubles,

and I wanted to go back to that, to the time of troubles. And I wanted to go back to that.

So the time of the reign of the feeble-minded son of Ivan the Terrible,

who had a hand-picked patriarch in mind, a man named Job.
