Summary

Today on The Mindvalley Show, we journey into the intriguing topic of intuition in business. Our guest is Laura Day, the worlds leading intuitive consultant who helps companies develop their intuitive abilities to improve operations, solve problems and increase profit. She has written extensively on perception and intuition, and her book “The Circle” creates a framework for anyone to develop their innate intuitive abilities.  In this episode, she defines intuition and how top CEOs tap into their intuitive abilities to make bold decisions by shifting their perception in space and time. Many people mistakenly define intuition as an emotional response, but Laura explains how intuition is a logical data-driven sense that allows you to dispassionately observe the world, people, and relationships to determine future potential.  Neurodivergent personalities often struggle to function appropriately in social settings, but Laura uncovers why people challenged by these pathologies also hold the potential to create dynamic data-driven companies that can impact all of society. She explains how the average CEO, has some form of neurodivergence that allows them to tap into a level of intuition that the average person resists.  If you are curious about intuition and want to shift your perception of data, reality, and human potential, join us for one of our most interesting conversations yet.   Key Takeaways: [3:50] What is intuition? Welcome to the Mind Mally Show. Today's topic is absolutely intriguing. I've been fascinated

0:13.9

by this topic for a while now and it is the idea of intuition applied to business.

0:20.0

Many companies today hire intuitive advisors. First, before we get into the science of

0:26.2

I know that some of you might be skeptical, but let me just state it this way.

0:30.1

Many people who are skeptical of psychics or intuitions, they are coming from a certain degree

0:35.0

of bias. Yes, there were these psychics on TV like Ms. Cleo, 30 years ago, who would take money

0:42.4

for readings that could never be proven as accurate. But if you actually look at the science,

0:47.2

the science is really compelling. Newer College of Engineering had a professor by the name of

0:51.8

Dr. John Mejelowski and he did a famous study which he described in his book Executive ESP.

0:57.2

The study went like this. They tested CEOs for intuition and what they did was simply showing

1:03.4

the CEOs what I call xenocards like five different cards and the CEOs had to guess which

1:08.5

card was being held up. The CEO of course couldn't see the back of the card. Now they found that

1:12.7

certain CEOs were able to guess the cards more correctly than chance. So chance would say you'd

1:18.8

guess 20 percent of the time, right? Certain CEOs were guessing 20-24 percent of the time

1:22.9

correctly. And what was curious is that those CEOs that had a higher probability of correct

1:28.4

guesses coincidentally, their companies also had higher profits. Conversely, the CEOs that were

1:34.9

guessing wrong more frequently seem to have something along the lines of negative intuition.

1:41.0

They should even withdraw a probability get the cards correct 20 percent of the time,

1:45.1

but they were hitting 17-18-19 percent. They were actually counterintuitive. And their companies,

1:51.9

you guessed it, were making the least amount of profits. So Mejelowski's study was one of those

1:57.3

many studies that showed that there is some aspect of being human that allows us to perceive

2:02.4

information outside of five senses. Now Laura Day is the leading expert in this field. Now I want
