I want to welcome you today to the emotionally healthy leader podcast.

Great to be with you.

And our theme today is the hidden life every leader needs.

The hidden life every leader needs.

That's very easy to be concerned on a daily basis with externals, the visible aspects of our lives and our leadership,

you know, our goals and moving towards them, our impact, what other, how other people are

perceiving us, our presence on social media, perhaps, are keeping up with trends and what's

happening around us, speaking to the issues of the day, and there sure are plenty of those.

But there is a hidden life that every leader and every person needs.

In fact, Jesus talked a lot about that.

In Matthew 6th, the sermon on the mound, he speaks about your giving being in secret,

and you're praying not to be seen by others, and you're fasting in secret.

And he has this great line.

He says three times after each of those sections. He says, then your father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you. So here's a question

I want to ask for you today is, how is your hidden life? That is your secret life in Jesus.

Because there is a hidden life in God that we all need.

And we see this in Abraham over the years and Moses and 40 years in the wilderness,

Elijah in the desert, John the Baptist spent most of his life hidden until he emerges, Jesus as well.

And so today I want to share with you actually a message from the life in the book of Jeremiah on his hidden life, a hidden life that enabled him publicly amidst incredible circumstances of challenge, difficulty, change, upheaval.

The Babylonians are invading, the process of invading, wiping out the country of Israel,

as they knew it, politically, culturally, socially. And there's great fear and panic all around him.
