Today's Dropping Bombs episode goes underground with Johnny Nunn, co-founder of Integrity Meter Solutions — a guy who's spent nearly 30 years in the plumbing and water world, working every job from meter reader to service manager before betting on himself.

Johnny breaks down how leak detection and submetering have cut water waste by up to 80% in multifamily properties, the day his biggest client walked away and forced a total rebuild, and why a mechanical device called the Water Block could stop the next catastrophic flood in your own house.

Water is the one bill nobody questions — until it's too late. This episode shows you exactly what you're missing.

Entrepreneurally wise, can't take no for an answer, and you can't be afraid to fail. You can teach someone how to make a million dollars, and they're still going to hell. It's only rated for five years. Most people don't know that. They don't go changing them out. Say break. Do you have any secrets, any techniques that you can share with the squad?

always so hustling on the side but starting my own business yeah that's since 2020 but your

1:07.3

business now is starting to thrive and crush it is it is and it's, I want to let people know it's an integrity meter solutions. That's the company's called Integrity Meter solutions. That's correct. You guys can look them up. I. M.S. up meter. I. I'm S a meter. I know. He's messing with me be trying to be funny i am s s um meter dot com is where

1:33.1

you'd find it i am sub meter dot com what is a water meter what do you mean all right so what happens

1:41.4

is in places like multifamily spaces the the city will put one big meter on the property and to measure everything. We go in behind them and put meters in every individual unit and we can read them remotely and then build the tenants back to the water that they use. So that's basically the nut and the shell of what stop metering is. It uses a smart meter basically. So like a toilet? Well, it actually, it's basically a water meter that's on the main line feeding the unit. So it's measuring all the water coming through. Now with our new technology that's out nowadays, we can actually capture leaks and things using submetering. That's kind of the kind of the point of what I do. But there are a lot of companies out there that we call RBC, which stands for Re-Bill Collect. They're just basically a utility building company. So a lot of the multifamily spaces, they have a lot of those companies is what they use. And that's kind of where the field I came from was just strictly submetering. And then about in 2020, I decided to walk away from working for those people and start on my own thing. And it's not about, so I don't do the building aspect of it. I'm just a conservationist basically. So I look

2:38.0

around trying to find ways to save water. Are we running out or something?

2:42.6

Well, you know, a funny story you asked that. I was here last July actually here on top of the

2:47.8

strat and I'm getting a water conservation award of all things. You were? I was, yes. So we had the company I, one of the strat and getting a water conservation award of all things you were i was yes so we

2:52.8

had uh the company i one of the companies i represent so they had a big thing here so i came to here and

2:57.7

they gave me an award because being a contributor to that but i went out to the hoover dam for the first time

3:02.1

and uh just all the they were explaining me that little line of the water table where it used to be

3:06.0

and now you see it's dropped by what i think 120 feet they said. Quite a bit. Yeah, quite a bit. So here in Vegas, I mean, you guys are casino mecca and hotel mecca here. Like, I feel like that this is done, no one knows about what I have. And the few case studies that we have done is shown really good promise that we feel like we can save a lot of water and save a lot of money. Yeah, but how? Because it indicates some sort of leak? Correct. So in the toilet part of it, and there's two different facets. There's submetering and there's leak detection, right? And there's leak detection goes in both hands. But leak detection specifically on mine is I have a little toilet meter that goes on the toilet.
