Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!

As the memories of the living fade from one generation to the next, unfortunately, so too do the resting places for their bodies. The George Pearis Cemetery in Virginia seems to be one of those places. Once a prominent resting place for a captain of the Revolutionary War, it now sits overgrown with weeds, trees, and natural elements, slowly taking over a plot of land lined with moss-covered gravestones that time and much of the living world have forgotten. Today, it seems that there may be more activity from the dead inside the stone gates of this cemetery than anyone alive, including TB patients, war fatalities, the ghost of a little boy whose life tragically ended in a hunting rifle accident, and many others. Today, we learn about the ghosts of The George Pearis Cemetery with paranormal investigator Jake Fife. This is Part Two of our conversation.

Welcome to part two of our interview with Jake Fife about the ghosts of the George Paris Cemetery.

0:06.6

Is this cemetery still frequented by people visiting grandparents or great-grandparents or anything of that nature?

0:13.5

No. For the most part, this is a forgotten cemetery, which I hate because it is historical.

0:19.5

Sure.

0:20.6

There's a sign that's actually close to George Paris's grave that gives the names of the

0:26.2

Confederate soldiers that are buried there.

0:28.5

And the reason they have that sign up is because there are about 200 missing headsets

0:33.8

in the cemetery.

0:35.3

No one knows what happened to them or, you know, it got so overgrown over the years that they couldn't salvage the great.

0:42.3

You know, it's almost been like a forgotten project. Now, every once in a while, there will be someone that comes up. I don't know who does it, but, you know, they'll cut the grass for the most part. And other than that,

0:55.6

not really anyone goes up there. Is there any thought as to where those headstones went?

1:03.3

There is not. That was something I was trying to figure out because when you're in the

1:07.4

cemetery, you can only see about, I would say, maybe 40 to 60 headstones.

1:14.6

And there's allegedly a few hundred people buried there.

1:18.4

Now, you can see areas in the woods where it looks like people are buried.

1:22.6

But it's weird the way we do it in Virginia and West Virginia.

1:26.0

We have a habit of burying people into the sides of mountain.

1:29.8

So, you know, it's very hard to tell, you know, where family plots are, where individual

1:34.4

graves are because, you know, there might be, you know, Solomon's Uncle Tom buried into

1:38.9

the side of this mountain.

1:40.5

And over the years where it's eroded, you may never be able to tell.

1:44.2

Okay. Could that, I may never be able to tell. Okay.
