For a parent, there is probably nothing worse than seeing your child suffer, especially from an illness like cancer that you can't do anything about.

You take them to all their appointments, visit every doctor, chase after every possible cure, and will pay literally anything in hopes that something will help.

There is nothing more important than doing everything you can to save the life of a child,

which goes a long way toward explaining the actions of the family that's featured in this

episode's film and the real family who allegedly lived this story in real life the film

opens in 1987 with sarah campbell played by virginia madsen searching for a rental home close to the

hospital where her son matt played by kyle g, is undergoing cancer treatment. The long drive between

the hospital and their home is having a terrible effect on Matt, and she's desperate to help him.

After a fruitless search, she has a chance encounter with the owner of a large Victorian home

that he's renting cheaply because the house has what he calls

a history. But Sarah doesn't care. The house is large and in a perfect location, so she makes

the decision to sign the lease. After breaking the news to her husband Peter, played by Martin

Donovan, a recovering alcoholic with a struggling business, he reluctantly

moves to the new house with Matt, their son Billy, and their nieces, Wendy and Mary.

Matt chooses the basement as his bedroom, which is, in all honesty, dimly lit, creepy, and

is cut in half by a wooden wall with glass windows that are too dark to be

able to see what's behind them. This is not the kind of bedroom where anyone could get a good night's

sleep. Anyway, as if to prove my point, Matt soon starts experiencing visions of an old man and

mutilated corpses, and soon the door to the lock side of the

basement mysteriously opens, and Peter and Matt discover a mortuary on the other side.

The house, as it turns out, used to be a funeral home. It's creepy, but wouldn't seem dangerous

if Matt's weird visions weren't continuing.
