Good morning. Three minutes after 10 is the time. And, well, almost a sense sounds a little bit odd.

0:06.6

Oh, isn't it nice? We're going to talk about burglary. But it does mean that we're going to start the show today without being constrained by coronavirus.

Something else I tried to explain to you yesterday, perhaps not very well.

0:17.8

And I try to convey how important, even though they are in a state of

0:23.0

constant decline, newspapers are. And it's an example of that today. Why are we talking about

0:28.9

burglary? Well, Priti Patel's made some pronouncements and they've won some front pages. Therefore,

you've got your nose so close to the picture, you can't work out what the picture is.

1:15.4

And then you take a few steps back, and you can see that it's not a sort of splodge of magenta and green,

1:22.5

but it's actually a beautiful field full of tulips or something like that.

1:26.9

So that kind of makes sense, right? So sometimes you're so close to the action, you can't see the bigger picture. I guess it's just a roundabout way of saying you can't see the wood for the trees. Sometimes I worry that you have to step so far back to see the picture that you can't actually see anything anymore.

1:46.3

And I feel a little bit like that about crime.

1:50.4

You know, we could pick a little piece of the issue to talk about together.

1:55.4

Historically, as a middle-aged white man presenting a radio phone-in program who has never had any experience whatsoever of stop and such,

1:58.5

I'm supposed to start thumping the table and
