to talk about the realities of grief and loss, particularly in the context of the devastation

of miscarriages and infertility.

Jeanette shares bravely and vulnerably from her own experiences with miscarriage and she and Dan

launch a conversation that we plan to continue over the next few weeks.

Well, I have the privilege of being with a dear friend, colleague, Jeanette White.

We have worked together.

We were on a lovely Facebook event to promote the online course.

So we've done this before, but not about a topic like this. And what we're going to be

talking about is miscarriage, infertility, and a larger category, grief, loss. How do we engage a very

common experience, and that is miscarriage? I was looking at a study, Jeanette done at Mount Sinai, that indicated that only about 5%

– I'm sorry, about 65% of people think that miscarriages only occur about 5% of the time.

The fact is, it's about 25, 1 out of four pregnancies and a miscarriage.

And heartbreaking when I read this, that 40% of the miscarriages that people had suffered

felt that they had done something wrong, and 27% felt that they were ashamed at what occurred, and 40% felt alone.

47 felt guilty.

So in other words, there is a whole myriad of heartache that goes well beyond the loss

itself.
