Welcome to episode 11 of the Grey NATO, a loose discussion of travel, adventure,

0:14.4

diving, gear, and most certainly watches. I'm James Stacy and I'm Jason Heaton.

During today's episode we're talking about quote-unquote new vintage watches, those watches that brands are coming out

0:26.6

with that sort of hearken back to perhaps a vintage model of their own or just trying to capture sort of the glory of the great days of the

0:35.4

50s and 60s when you know there were just a lot of great watches around so the

0:40.6

watches we're kind of talking about here are those from, you know,

0:44.3

Longine and Ores, Tudor, Eterna, Seco, just a bunch of others.

0:49.9

And it's kind of been a trend, I don't know, James, maybe seems like it kind of, it's kind of in peak form now, but I would say we kind of saw this starting about, I don't know, three years ago, four years ago, would would you say I would say closer to ten oh really

because 2007 was the long jeans heritage diver yeah yeah and I think in we'll say 2004 to 2005 so if you if you look to even smaller brands like if you think of Ocean 7 and and some of those like early internet micro brands.

And I mean, when it's in a brand,

1:34.8

then it's no longer an homage, right?

1:36.4

Like if, if Ors makes the 65, that's a legit watch,

1:39.5

but if somebody else made a watch that looked just like a 65.

1:43.0

Then it's an homage.

1:44.2

So I mean, with some of these smaller brands, I don't think you can necessarily call them new vintage.

1:48.8

But that's largely, it's what they were cornering, what they were looking for in the market was you know these watches

1:53.9

that weren't around anymore in many cases like you know a couple brands were

2:00.0

making omeges to the Plow Prof before Omega released it.

2:05.0

Right.
