Would you go with me in the scriptures please to 1 Corinthians?

1 Corinthians 10.5, talking about the Israelites that God delivered out of Egyptian bondage

under Moses' leadership, said with many of them God was not well pleased, for they were

overthrown in the wilderness.

Now these things were our examples.

Say that out loud.

These things were whose examples?

Our examples.

It's a big mistake to neglect your Old Testament

because it is full of beautiful types that allow us to understand the realities

of these things in Christ.

And we are supposed to see ourselves in what happened with the Israelites.

And there's two big examples in this.

There's examples of faith, like Joshua and Caleb.

And there's examples of unbelief, like those that perished in the wilderness.

And we're supposed to learn what to do and how to believe. We're supposed to learn what not to do.

Because even though our relationship has changed because of the new covenant, faith works

exactly the same today as it did in Abraham's time.

It hasn't changed at all.

And so all the lessons about faith, there is vibrant and applicable today and for the next million years.

Everything we learn about faith, every bit we've developed, we take with us into the next

life. Now, he said, don't, these things were our examples. And now in verse 11, he said it again,
