Summary

Introducing Neil Nixon- well known author and radio show personality in the UK- with a lifelong interest in rock music. In part one we set up the ground rules for the great rock and roll debate- which decade, the 50';s-60's, or 70's- was the greatest decade for rock and roll? First- "rock and roll" will be loosely defined as "top 40" radio. The criteria- CONSISTENCY- THE WHOLE TEN YEARS IS HOT INNOVATION- NEW ,MOVEMENTS STARTED- SOUND TECHNIQUES -GENRES ENDURANCE- HOW IS THE MUSIC FROM THAT DECADE ACCEPTED TODAY? Neil offers a pretty good sum up of 1980 through present and puts it in a very positive light- but this is an early rock debate .that everyone who follows rock and roll should be able to enjoy..
