This morning we come to the second in a series of messages from Isaiah chapter 55 and I'd invite you to take your Bibles and turn to that Old Testament prophet.

The sermon series titled The Great Invitation.

The preaching text this morning is verses 4 and 5 of Isaiah 55, and for the sake of putting these in context will go back a verse and begin

to read at verse 3. Isaiah 55, verse 3. I'm I say,

incline your ear and come to me.

Here that your soul may live.

And I will make with you an everlasting covenant my steadfast, sure love for David.

Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader, and commander for the peoples.

Behold you shall call nations that you know not, and nations that you knew not shall run to you because of the Lord, your God, and of the Holy One of Israel,

for He has glorified you. you. Well, we saw last week in this amazing invitation in the first three verses of Isaiah

55 was that God invites thirsty, bankrupt, frustrated people to come drink water,

milk and wine. He invites us to come drink the water of his grace that I think is intended

to signify a quickening and a refreshing when we're dry and dead in Death Valley.

He invites us to drink the milk, which I think is intended to signify what strengthens and

what carries you over the long haul of nourishment and growth, and he invites us to drink his spiritual

wine which signifies the eye-brightening exhilaration of knowing the Almighty God and having an everlasting covenant with him.

And he told us that it's all free.

Come buy wine and milk without money and without any price, although we saw from Isaiah 53, and we saw at the Lord's

table this morning it was bought. Though you and I could never buy it. It was bought. So we buy it in the sense that we believe

the buyer. When you enter into the store of God's beverages, you buy in that you

bank on the buyer. But it's free to you.

Then we got to verse 3, and behind all the imagery of water, milk and wine,
