Welcome to this Abide Bedtime Story,

the great faithfulness of God,

where you will drift peacefully to sleep,

hearing about God's faithfulness to his people as seen through the life of

hymn writer Thomas Chisholm.

Thomas Chisholm was born in 1866 in a log cabin in a small town of Franklin, Kentucky.

He was a teacher and a newspaper editor until he decided to follow Jesus at a

revival meeting when he was 27 years old. After that, he was the editor of a denominational publication,

and he became an ordained minister. When poor health caused him to have to step down from the pulpit after just one year,

Thomas worked for many years as an insurance salesman in New Jersey.

He wrote the classic hymn,

Great is Thy Faithfulness in 1923.

Not because of some great calamity God had seen him through, but because of the

day by day, morning by morning miracles and provisions he saw. It's a wonderful reminder for us

that God is always taking care of us.
