A prominent law professor, a bitter custody battle, and a wealthy family prosecutors say

would stop at nothing to get what they wanted in July of 2014

Dan Markell was gunned down in the garage of his Tallahassee home at the center

of it all the powerful and prominent Aedelson family of South Florida

prosecutors say Donna Aedelson the family matriarch desperately wanted her daughter free from a contentious divorce and custody fight with Markell.

Authorities allege that what began as family frustration evolved into a calculated plan to have Dan Markell killed.

Over the years, investigators followed a trail of phone calls, money transfers,

recorded conversations, and family connections, eventually leading to multiple arrests, multiple

convictions, and now a life sentence for Donna Adelson. But even after her conviction,

Adelson continues to insist

she is an innocent woman caught in what

she calls a miscarriage of justice.

Joining me today to break down the case is

legal analysts Lee Wallace.

Lee, thank you for joining us to talk about

Dan Markell and this case that really has

captivated Florida and the nation, but for over

a decade now, this murder actually happened in 2014. Walk us through how it took so long

to solve his murder and, of course, bring five people now to justice, I believe?

True. And it took a long time, I think, because of the way prosecutors pursued the case.
