Good morning. It's Sunday, February the 28th. I'm Ali Valshi. We begin with breaking news in the fight against COVID-19.

Late yesterday, the FDA granted emergency use authorization to Johnson and Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine.

It's the third vaccine to enter the United States arsenal against the deadly pandemic.

Johnson and Johnson's single-dose vaccine has a lower efficacy rate compared to Pfizer and Moderna's two-dose vaccines in terms of preventing

you from contracting the virus, but it's highly effective at preventing serious cases of COVID-19

and has been shown to completely prevent hospitalizations and death as soon as four weeks after

immunization. It's also easier to ship and store compared to Pfizer and

Moderna vaccines. Four million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are expected to start

shipping tomorrow with the goal of 20 million doses being available by the end of March. And

because currently just a single dose is needed, that translates directly to 20 million people being immunized.
