Hello, and welcome to another edition of the Byron York Show, the no-chit-chat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it, and what we're going to get into today is GOP backward

or forward.

There is a wrenching debate going on inside the Republican Party as we speak over the

simplest of questions, and the question is, should the party look backward or forward?

Now, just because a question is simple, and this one is, just because a question is simple,

does not mean the answer is easy.

And indeed, as the 2022 and then the 2024 elections approach, the backward or forward

question is incredibly extraordinarily difficult for the Republican Party.

Now, as with a lot of issues facing Republicans these days, the question is really about Donald

Trump.

Should the party go along with his fixation on the 2020 election?

Or should it move on?

Now, Republican politicians who want to move on face a lot of resistance, and they face

it from two very different quarters.

First, the Democratic Party very much wants to keep talking about 2020.

After all, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi created the January 6th Committee in part to keep

the idea of a Trump Republican, quote, insurrection, alive into the 2022 midterms.

Democrats want to talk about 2020 because they believe they can use it to defeat Republicans.

Okay, so that's one place from which Republicans face resistance to looking forward.

Now, the other place that Republicans face resistance about moving forward is Donald Trump.

In recent days, he has been using his press releases.
