I remember when I first moved to L.A.

We were so broke and we hardly knew anyone. We didn't have any good friends. And L.A., well,

she doesn't exactly roll out the red carpet for you. And at that time, I remember thinking to myself, I will have made it if I can afford a

gently used Prius. I know, big dreams. Just call me big dreams, Sarah G. And when the time came that I could afford a gently used car, I realized

I didn't want a Prius at all. No shade, if you have one. Just for me, I realized it wasn't my

style. And instead, I bought a gently used hybrid Lexus.

I know, I know, you're thinking, hey, Sarah, don't brag, don't brag, okay?

I remember also thinking to myself, if I'm ever lucky enough to buy a house here, then I'm going to be sure to plant two

different colors of Bougainvillea in my house. And like a miracle, that day came, and we bought a house.

And to be honest, if I'm going to be totally honest with you, and first, I planted two different

kinds of rosemary. They're still there. Now they're

really big bushes. They're two different kinds. Then I planted two different kinds of bucunphelia.

I think it was because when I moved to Los Angeles, I was completely entranced and enchanted with all of the gorgeous flowers.

But in particular, the bougainvillea.

Because other places I have lived, it just doesn't grow like that, like the amount that it does,

the abundance of it in L.A.
