In this conversation, Sam Kahn, Mike Pesca, Christine Rosen, and Yascha Mounk discuss what the election results mean for the direction of the Democrats, what the Heritage Foundation scandal shows about anti-Semitism on the right, and Dick Cheney’s mixed legacy. Mike is the host of The Gist, the longest-running daily news and analysis podcast in existence.  Christine Rosen is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. And unfortunately, with Mondani, I'm sure he'll be fine as a mayor, like New York City is

0:05.5

ungovernable anyway, so he'll be no worse than his predecessors. But he's really a target.

0:13.5

And being mayor of New York is actually the worst possible position to be that target, because

0:19.7

it means that he can't, he can't really speak to a

0:23.3

national audience but the um but the fox news crowd can really focus in on him so i think it's a

0:29.3

real liability for twenty six unfortunately and now the good fight with Yasha Monk.

It is Wednesday, November 5th and this is the 11th installment of the Good Fight Club.

Today I'm delighted to be rejoined by my friend Mike Pesker, who is the host of the excellent daily podcast Vigist.

I have for the second time on the podcast, but for the first time on the Good Fight Club,

1:09.3

Christine Rosen, who is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and not the Heritage Foundation. Welcome, Christine. This will become important later. We will get back to this. And I have, for the first time, I believe in either the Good Fed Club, over podcast as a whole, my dear colleague Sam Khan, who is a frequent voice in the pages of persuasion of which he is an editor, as well as the author of a Castalia substack.

1:29.3

Welcome, Sam.

1:29.9

Thank you so much for having me.

1:32.1

I got to break in, Yasha.

1:33.7

I think you should be calling it the good fight club, not the good fight club.

1:38.2

It's subtle, but it's like the Empire State Building versus the Empire State Building.

1:42.5

I know you want to brand the good fight thing,

1:44.4

but the good fight club. This is my suggestion. Take it, if you will. And Mike, just remind me

1:50.2

after Christine mentioned that she has a Labradoodle, what point did you make about that breed?

1:55.3

Okay, Labradoodle is fine to call that particular dog, but when you get into the golden doodles

2:00.7

and the other doodles,

2:01.8

they should be oodles, not doodles, because the duh in Labradoodle is borrowed from the Labrador, not the poodle. So this is my point. You don't have a golden doodle. I mean, Christine has, doesn't have a golden doodle. But if you think you have a golden doodle, you really have a golden noodle. wonderful well that Well, that's a way of avoiding talking about the New York City mayoral election.

2:22.5

So we are recording this on the morning after the mid-term of 2025, in which Democrats did very well
