Summary

This week, you get to hear Jason and I interviewed by Bridget Riepl of New Jersey Yoga Collective. It was part of a fundraiser for Goats of Anarchy -- those goats needed a new barn and we were happy to support.

Bridget asked us about a whole host of topics -- from the history and intention behind this podcast, to the advice we have for yoga teachers and students grappling with the hardships of the Covid-19 pandemic to making yoga more inclusive practice.

around the US and around the world. And I knew as of about last Sunday that I just could not

1:07.3

bring myself to post a podcast about yoga. I just did not feel right. I wanted our collective focus to be on what is happening out there.

I think that there is definitely a tendency in the yoga community to focus so much on ourselves and our own well-being that sometimes, you know, I will hear like, I'm doing a news fast, I can't, I can't handle it, it's too much for my nervous system or sort of this idea of like taking self-care sort of to the max.

And I wrote this in our newsletter this week, but just to repeat it, obviously there's so much of yoga that's about

1:46.5

tuning into ourselves, learning about ourselves, learning about how we respond to things and how we need to stay well and that's important and a lot of it is self-reflection

And so we build up this strong foundation in ourselves

so that we can be resilient and be of service to others

and hold space for others. So I think it's important to tune

2:16.7

into what is happening in the world right now and to take an action to improve things for others.

2:27.6

And I have gotten a few responses

that I should stay out of politics and people like it better when I don't send
