Summary

The old Alton Bridge was built in Texas in 1884, to provide access between the Alton community and Denton, Texas.

Back then, many towns would start up and disappear quickly, as people were still getting settled into the new areas of the

United States. And such was the fate of Alton, as it disappeared when the settlers moved to other

places. But the old Alton Bridge has another nickname, subtly named the Goatman's Bridge, and soon we'll find out

the sinister reasons behind that name.

The Goatman's Bridge is the home of a dark entity, a demon that is told to be half goat, half man, known as a goat man.

This entity has been said to lurk around the area, summoned by many satanic rituals that are

carried in the place. Locals tell a couple of stories that have been popularized over the years.

One of them, with only local folklore to back it up, is the story of Oscar Washburn.

Mr. Washburn was a goat farmer, who arrived with his family to an area located just north of Old Alton Bridge, soon after it was built.

With the many goats that he had on the property, and as his successful source of income, he placed a sign on the bridge that read,

Not everyone was happy for the gentle goat farmer,

as some of his success was not well received by a group of the locals.

Members of the Ku Klux Klan were among them.

One night, in the summer of 1937, while Mr. Washburn was asleep, Klansman took him by force

and dragged him to the bridge. They placed a rope around his neck, and hanged him over the side of it.

When other men came to confirm the death of Mr. Washburn, his body had disappeared and

was never seen again.

But the terror didn't stop then.

The angry group, in a panic, went to the house of Mr. Washburn and murdered the rest of his family.

Those memories would soon begin to haunt the community, both in their minds and in the form of a ghost.
