A police officer in the municipality of Guadalupe became known one day, as news of his experience

read headlines across the state.

The police officer had called for help soon after 3 a.m. after witnessing something so strange

that it still puzzles investigators to this day.

The story itself went global, and it is highly likely that you have also seen the infamous footage

of the Witch of Monterey.

The city of Guadalupe is a part of the Monterey metropolitan area in the Mexican state of

Nevolion.

Within it, lies a recreational area called Cerro de la Silla, a rocky mountainous region with walking trails and a favorite among climbers.

On the early morning of January 14, 2004, police officer Leonardo Somaniego was making his rounds by the nearby mountain area,

when suddenly a large dark figure fell from one of the trees in

front of him. The thing had fallen, but to his surprise, it did not touch the ground.

Samanego could not believe his eyes, and called for help through the radio and turned on his high beams.

He saw that, instead, it floated upward, right in front of the police car, until it came closer to the car and frightened the police officer.

It was a woman wrapped in a dark hood, staring at him with dark unblinking eyes.

Her intentions were to attack.

Her large claws tried to scratch through the windshield as a panicked officer, San Mariego,

radioed for help.

The witch then violently shook the car as he screamed when he caught an even

clearer view of her face and features. She floated in front of the car, scratching at the

glass and the doors with rage. When two other police cars and an ambulance arrived, they found
