Encounter the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.

We're going to take an in-depth look at the gift of speaking in tongues.

We're going to explore and overcome some of the common

misconceptions that believers have about the gift of tongues. And I believe that as you hear

this message, as you receive this truth, that you will receive your prayer language in Jesus

name. So let's begin by looking at the concept of praying in the

spirit, a concept that believers often confuse with the concept of speaking in tongues. Go with me now

to Jude chapter 1. I'm going to begin reading at verse number 20, Jude chapter one beginning at verse number 20.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads

to eternal life.

Now, this portion of scripture is often confused with talking about the gift of speaking in tongues.

When we read to pray in the spirit, or when we read that phrase praying in the Holy Spirit,

this is not a direct reference to the gift of tongues. It's a

reference to praying with the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the power of the Holy Spirit under the

influence of the Holy Spirit. So to pray in the Spirit is to desire in agreement with heaven, to speak aloud those petitions which originate

in the will of the Father. True prayer in the Spirit begins in union with God. Praying in the Holy Spirit

is praying in harmony with the will of the Holy Spirit,

with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. So you are praying
