You know what's interesting to me how in the church the only kingdom that nobody ever debates

as supernatural is the kingdom of darkness? No one argues about whether demons still operate or

whether deception still spreads or whether counterfeit spirituality still has real power behind it.

That part seems universally accepted amongst Christians.

But the moments you suggest that God still empowers his people in the same way he did

in the New Testament, suddenly that becomes controversial and, oh, we ought to be careful.

And that's what makes this conversation on tongues

so important because the issue isn't really tongues, right? Tongues just happens to be the

flashpoint. Okay, the real question underneath all of this is whether God still moves,

still speaks, and still empowers today the way he did then,

or whether we've quietly decided that the holy, authentic, righteous version of supernatural

wonderworking power stopped at some undefined point in church history.

Like maybe the Holy Spirit just retired in 90 AD or something.

See, what doesn't add up to me is that we read a Bible that is openly supernatural from cover to cover, right?

We believe in a resurrected Christ.

We believe in a living Holy Spirit.

And yet, many of us have been taught to expect a Christianity that operates almost entirely

in the natural realm, in spite of all of that other stuff.

Okay.

So, you know, yeah, sure, we believe God can move.

We just don't necessarily expect him to.

And then when he does, we're not sure what to do with it,
