I think a lot about death.

And I don't mean that in a morose, I wanted all to end sort of way.

I mean I think about what the reality of death means for life.

We all instinctively turn away from these thoughts.

But what if there's real value in facing it head on?

Many of the great philosophical traditions recognize that what we're really after is

the best life possible right here and right now.

And that's because this life is all we have.

And the fact that it will end means that we can't afford to waste it.

Max Linsky is the co-founder of the podcast studio Pineapple Street Media and the host

of the Long Form podcast.

He has a new project called 70 over 70.

He's interviewing 70 people over 70 years old about their lives.

Not as a walk down memory lane, but as an attempt to learn something about living well from

people who have already done so much of it.

I wanted to sit down with Max to talk about the vision behind 70 over 70.

And the result was a raw conversation about elderhood, about facing our own extinction,

about how a pandemic clarified, how we see or don't see all of these things.

And ultimately how to live a life we all know will end.
