Today's tip is about carving out small amounts of time to fully focus on another person.

Often these small bits of time can have an outsized positive effect

on the relationship. Long time before breakfast listeners know that I have four children

and in larger families it can be difficult to spend one-on-one

time with each of the kids. So for the past few years each summer I've scheduled

what I call mommy days with each of the children. I take the day off work and the child and I go do an activity of the child's choosing.

My children are all very different from each other, and so we've done varied things,

playing combat games and laser tag, for instance,

or going to the American Girl Place.

We visited the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
