| 1:36.9 | Well, the lighthouse came to be because in 1948, the amount of ships that used to cross by it was maybe 102. |
| 1:39.3 | And then in 48, it went to almost 1,000 because of the gold rush. All the 49ers were coming out looking |
| 1:47.4 | for gold in California. That's when we started getting the shipwrecks and everything. So construction |
| 1:56.6 | began in 1887 and it was completed in August 1st, 1889, the first time it was lit. |
| 2:06.6 | And back then, it cost three payments that added up to about $110,000, which equals about $2.1 million in today's dollars. |
| 2:22.8 | Now, this lighthouse, obviously, it's out there. It's a beacon. A lot of shipwrecks out in that area. |
| 2:29.6 | This lighthouse was probably one of the last lights. |
| 2:34.7 | Many people on the sea saw before, I mean, not to go too more, |
| 2:39.3 | but before they passed, before their ships went down, |
