Summary
Growing up in a large Italian family, Nikki spent countless evenings at her grandparents' house. Dinner was always downstairs, relatives were always coming and going, and everyone knew each other's routines by heart.
That's what made the strange occurrences so difficult to explain.
For years, family members kept hearing the unmistakable sounds of someone arriving home. A familiar sequence would play out upstairs, causing everyone in the basement to assume they knew exactly who had just walked through the door.
But when someone went to check, the house would be empty.
What started as a family mystery eventually became something much bigger, leading Nikki to wonder whether some connections continue long after we think they're gone.
