Hello and welcome to Political Thinking.

It is perhaps a sign of the times Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk

agreeing to face off in a cage fight.

Now, you might regard that as funny for two US multi-billionaires.

Unless that is, of course, you ponder on the fact

that they have huge responsibility for the future of the planet.

They control some of the most powerful technology,

not just Facebook and Twitter, not just the metaverse,

but space exploration as well.

It is therefore perhaps not that funny that they behave in that way

while politicians struggle to work out how to control

the titans of tech and the new developments in it.

Food for Thought, perhaps, for my guest on Political Thinking

this week, the Science Minister, Conservative MP, George Freeman,

who says that responsibility is the center of his politics.

The son of a grand national winning jockey and a descendant of Gladstone,

he chose to vote to punish Boris Johnson this week

when many of his colleagues chose to stay away.
