As I dove into this case, deeper than I ever had before, which included listening to

0:14.7

the tapes and their entirety for the first time, one thought kept swirling around at my

0:19.3

mind, and that thought was that there's simply no way that Gacy's victim count stops

0:25.7

at 33. What became apparent to both there and I, as we dug in, is that once Gacy was

0:32.2

arrested and even more significant, when the creep started to talk, the investigation

0:38.3

into Gacy for all intents and purposes stopped. Now, the identification of the victim's

0:44.7

aspect didn't stop, and that was a time consuming endeavor, which the Cook County Sheriff's

0:49.9

Police spent a majority of their time focusing on, and that was absolutely necessary. But

Carolyn Gang move into the house for four years, and the narrative is that he killed only

1:25.0

two young men during that time frame? Just doesn't fit. You've heard the portions of the

1:31.1

tape, where you hear the creep say, how do I know I didn't kill a hundred? You've heard

1:35.6

him talk about, how do I know that I wasn't doing this when I was traveling? And we have

1:40.7

those same questions. I asked Bill Conkel about the work records that Gasey claims that

1:45.6

he had that would indicate exactly where he was.

1:49.2

I mean, the first discussion I had with him is I said, well, you know, I don't know what

1:53.9

you actually have. I said, I suspect that you got it from Gasey at the joint, or copies,

2:07.0

but who knows what where they came from? Because I'll tell you, here's why. All of the records,

2:18.1

he was a pack, Gasey was a pack rat. Up in the attic, I mean, we found all kinds of stuff,
