Good evening, children.

It's Granny MacDuff, ready with a story.

So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin. Once upon a time when dragons flew in the sky and wishes always came true, there lived a king

whose daughters were all beautiful. But the youngest of them was so fair that whenever she went out,

the sun and the moon were always delighted

to shine their light on her. Nearby the castle, there was a forest that had an old lime tree

with a small fountain underneath its branches. During the summer months, when it was very hot,

the princess would often visit the fountain and play under the shade of the lime tree.

She would bring a golden ball and roll it along the grass to see how far it would go.

It was her favourite game.

But one day, when the princess rolled the ball, she did not aim it properly,

and the ball rolled into the trunk, bounced off, and plopped into the fountain.

The girl rushed to the edge of the water and looked down, hoping to see her ball.

But the fountain was so deep she could not see the bottom.

The ball was lost.

The princess began to cry and weep and sob.

But then a small voice said,
