Hello and welcome to The Week Junior Show. I'm Bex and I'm joined by writers Joe and Eve from the Week Junior, the magazine Making Sense of the World for 8 to 14 year olds.

0:11.3

Now in this week's episode, we're going to be discussing a gem theft from a French museum, a top architecture award and a boy who's raising awareness about having a stammer.

Make sure you're listening closely because at the end of this episode, we'll be asking a question about what you've heard, and if you answer it correctly, you could win a prize. But before we begin, there's something I want to talk to you both about. As this week's issue of the magazine is a Halloween special, I want to know what everyone is dressing up for for Halloween this year. And if you're not dressing up, of course, just tell me the best costume you've ever done. Eve, I feel like you'd be pretty good at this. I do love fancy dress very much. This weekend, I'm going to Comic-Con, so I'm actually dressing up as my character from the game Dungeons and Dragons, which will be very fun. But I'd say the best Halloween costume I've ever done was when I was a child,

I dressed up as a witch. I think I was about eight. I dressed up as a witch for my friend Tilly's Halloween party. But that day I'd been to the hairdressers and I had very curly hair for any listeners that don't know. And my hair had been straightened at the hairdressers. and when I arrived at Tilly's front door, she didn't know who I was.

1:12.8

So it was kind of, it was quite a memorable costume. And I very much enjoyed it. The ultimate costume. Did you have like the witch's hat? Do you have stripy tights? Yeah. I went, went all out. I do love a good witch costume. I think that's so fun to do. It's an absolute classic. What a winner. Joe, how about you? Well, I've never been that into dressing up, and I can't actually remember any really good Halloween outfits. For a 90s themed party once, I did dress up as a Beanie Baby, if you remember those. I know Beanie Babies, yeah. Yeah, I put a pair of cat ears on, and I painted some whiskers on my face. They were made by a company called Thai, not Tiwires, I found out this morning. And they had that famous logo with a letter surrounded by a heart. So I made a cardboard version of that logo and hung it around my neck in addition to the whiskers and so on. Excellent. Okay, I like it when a little effort has gone into a costume. I do love fancy dress. I have previously gone as a skeleton. I've got like a go-to skeleton costume ready to go at any time if I've been invited to a party. That's just in my cupboard. But I do like making fancy dress costumes. And I once put together a Where's Wally costume which I was very, very happy

about, although I did go to a party and everybody pretended to look for me, which was a whole other issue entirely. But yeah, I love making, I love making stuff. And so yeah, I went as a Tamagotchi once as well. And I've also been to a party as a Game Boy, which I was pretty happy with, a game that had Tetris on its screen if Tetris is a very, very old game.

2:35.7

Oh my, Bex, I wasn't familiar with your fancy dress game. I just love making stuff, I think, and it's always like, I'm not very good at scary costumes, but I like fun things. So yeah, that's my vibe. But I'm pretty sure our listeners at home will have some excellent costumes to tell us about. And if you do, please do send us an email to hello at theweekjunior.

Of course, guys, would you be playing Quidditch if you were in Hogwarts?

3:41.0

Yeah, it'd be quite dangerous, wouldn't it? I feel like it looks like great fun, yeah. I'd watch from the sidelines. Yeah, I'm saying that. I don't have much of a head for height, so maybe it isn't the game for me, actually. I'd take that back. Yeah, I'll leave it to other people. Well, fair enough, just me and Louisa then. we'll be off to play Quidditch. We've also had a message here from Owen and Ella.
