Well greetings my friends, patriots, lovers of democracy, truth and justice, believers

and peace, freedom and the American way Tom Harbin here with you.

I want to talk with you about freedom.

I think this is a really, really important issue and it's something that Democrats

have kind of missed the bowdown.

We haven't been talking Democrats by and large, have not been talking about freedom

in the frame that traditionally progressive Democrats like Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon

Johnson and even progressive Republicans like Teddy Roosevelt talked about freedom.

Teddy Roosevelt back in 1912 proposed what he called the square deal that would include

health insurance for everybody in the country that was paid for by the government, that

would guarantee that everybody had the right to what he called a remunerative job, a job

that paid enough that you could have a decent life.

The guaranteed everybody in America could take at least a week or two of vacation every

year.

That guaranteed education to everybody in America, including college education.

This was the Republican president from 1901 to 1908 or 1909, March of 1909.

Teddy Roosevelt proposed that and he said that these things would guarantee the freedom

of Americans.

A generation later his third cousin Franklin Roosevelt came into office and said essentially

the same thing.
