It's just past 5 p.m. on April 29, 1903, in a coal mine beneath Frank, a small town in Alberta, Canada.

Time is running out for miner Dan McKenzie. In near total darkness, he swings his pickaxe against the wall, trying to clear a path to freedom. Thirteen hours ago, Dan's shift underground was interrupted by what sounded and felt like an earthquake.
