Tonight, we start with tragic news.

Melissa Inouye, a respected scholar, author, wife, and mother, has passed away at the age of 44.

Melissa's contributions were significant. She attended Harvard, received a degree

in East Asian Studies, went on to complete a doctorate in 2011 in East Asian languages and civilization.

She was a senior lecturer on modern Chinese history at the University of Auckland. She was part of initiating the

Global Mormon Studies Research Network and was an advisory board member of the Neill A. Maxwell Institute

for Religious Scholarship. I interviewed Melissa way back in 2014 regarding LDS Church Culture.

She was a bridge builder, and her work will have a long-lasting effect far into the future.

Mormonism lost an important scholar, too young, and she will be missed.

her husband Joseph McMullen, and their four children.
