I'm your host A.G. and with me today are Jordan Coburn. Hello. And Amanda Reader. Hello.

1:03.4

How are you? Good. Yeah. Yeah. I did a show yesterday at the improv up in Hollywood in their side room. That was called Up Close and Political and that was really fun.

1:17.4

There's a comic named Toby and I don't know how to pronounce his last name. I am so sorry. But he gets two stand-up comics that come on. One of them is liberal, one of them is conservative, and then they get two experts.

1:27.9

So there was a professor from USC there and then a professor from Loyola, Marymount, and one was like an expert on all things Russia. So it was really, really cool to get to sit there. So you do stand-up and then you do a panel discussion. Oh, that's fine. Some good nerdy political comedy. Yeah. Yeah. That sounds good. What's it called again? Up Close and Political. Cool. Good name. You should come to San Diego. Yeah. That would be cool. Yeah. They do it monthly there. If anyone's in LA and wants to go improv, the lab. Cool. Rad. Improv's on Melrose.

1:56.9

Yeah. It's like a ghost town at night. It's so weird. It's really strange. It's very creepy because it used to be that that was the club. Yeah. And then it was Comedy Store and then it was improv again. And then once Rose Battle happened, it went back to Comedy Store and that's where it's kind of stayed.

2:14.9

The hangs since then for the hangs. Plus it's right on sunset. Yeah. Exactly. So it's and there's a patty. It's just a lot of interaction and hanging out and stuff like that. So. Yeah. Melrose is really creepy at 19 because it's like all the shops. You know. So there's just no one outside except all of these mannequins in the window. It's horrifying walking down the street. It's like some weird apocalyptic thing. Yeah. That's what it feels like. Fred Sikal.

2:42.9

I stayed at home with my dog and my wife and caught up on John Oliver. Yeah. Did you guys see this week's episode? He talked about China's one child policy. Yeah. Yeah. I heard a few things about this before, but if you didn't see this week's John Oliver, it's super interesting and the kind of like ramifications and effects of the one child policy are super fascinating and horrifying, but very fascinating. Yeah. There's like 34 million more men than women. Yeah. And so there's like a huge second. Yeah.

3:12.9

It's an interesting lifestyle industry. And like so that a lot of human trafficking to bring wives for Chinese men, for what these Chinese men, from other countries. Yep. For me and Mara, 21% of women from me and Mara trafficked into it's really like. Yeah.

3:29.7

That they didn't even think of the ramifications nor did he want on to say that he they thought of the ramifications of what happened when they ended the one child policy and introduced their new to child policy.

3:39.9

And it's still probably going to have the same kind of unintended consequences or maybe they were intended. I don't know. But to have 34 million, you know, dudes that have zero women that, you know, and assuming they're all buying it, you know, assumptions side.

3:56.9

Yeah.

3:57.9

You know, it's just going to leave a lot of people where they can't have a relationship. Yeah, it's really wild. I mean, the purely the sociological effects of this, like they were doing a population control, which it's a whole thing that I don't want to get into right now. But China also favors young men as opposed to young women because they believe that men will provide for families as they get older and women want to.

4:19.9

They're supposed to culturally they're supposed to so yeah, it's resulted in women girls, baby girls not being wanted or you know, whatever. So anyway, yeah, I'm just about that. But it was just that was kind of blew my mind last night.

4:31.9

I remember learning about that because my memories, correct. I think my eighth grade geography teacher who was gay adopted a little girl from from China. So we learned about that policy.

4:43.9

Yeah.

4:45.9

Very fascinating stuff. Really? Yeah, I check out John Oliver this week if you haven't. We do have, gosh, there's no news today at all.
