John is led by an angel to go back into this scene

when judgments are occurring, time is running its course,

Christians have left the earth

except for that remnant that will believe after the rapture of the church, but mainly the world is made up of

those without Christ who are confused and desperately seeking direction,

someone to worship, something to believe,

because that will not change even though judgments are falling. So John is escorted by the angel to go and to witness something

amazing and she is called the great harlot who sits on many waters.

Skip over to verse 15.

He said to me, verse 15, the waters which you saw

where the harlot sits are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

It's a word picture of the worldwide sweep and influence of the teaching of the harlot.

So we understand when she sits on many waters

she is having an influence over the whole world.
