Today a warning from Chuck Swindall.

There is an embracing of a philosophy of religion based on human effort for human

achievement and human glory and that is what ultimately will sweep the world when Christians are removed.

Even today, the whole New Age concept has as its root

you are your own own God. Because of our sinful nature, man is prone to concoct unfounded ideas about God.

For instance, without any authority to do so, it's not uncommon to hear well-meaning people invent a God of their liking.

They imagine that God is focused on our behavior.

And in the end, he's going to make sure that our good deeds outweigh our bad ones.

Well today on Insight for Living Chuck's Wendall is teaching from

Revelation chapter 17. In this passage we see the deadly consequences of

trying to earn God's favor by performance alone. Chuck begins with prayer. Our Father, today we come before you with numerous needs, some with heavy hearts, some still in grief over the loss of loved ones,

some anticipating the uncertainty of a week that seems to them at this point threatening, perhaps facing

hospitalization or the word from the physician regarding their

who may be failing. Some are ministering to those who were sick and hospitalized,

and their hearts are touched by the needs of the one they love. They find themselves

helpless as we all do when it comes to fixing our own problems and meeting our own needs.

Some are in difficult and dangerous places today

and we remember them as well.

We pray that we'll be reminded of the great truth that the Lord Jesus offered when he invited those who were weary and heavy-hearted to come that he might give them rest.

May rest be found for those who know the Lord Jesus, may there be no rest given to those distant from Him. But may you be the powerful

one today, our Father, as you use truth to woo and to win those who at this moment doubt and struggle and

are admittedly closed to information that you have for us.
