The president of Russia says

neighboring Georgia has been punished enough. He's ordered a halt to military operations. But there's

still no formal ceasefire, and the President of France, current leader of the European Union,

is shutling between Moscow and Tbilisi. The U.S. says it's reviewing humanitarian options,

and Russia needs to make good on its promise.

On to the point, we'll get the latest on the confrontation that threatens to destabilize an already volatile part of the world.

Is Russia testing the U.S. and Europe in their support for an emerging democracy?

Is it trying to reconstitute the former Soviet Union?

We'll hear about new international realities, including the role of oil.

Hello again, Warren Alney, back with To the Point. In Moscow today, Russian President

Dmitri Medvedev, said he has ordered a halt to military operations in Georgia. French

President Nicolas Sotakosi, current president of the European Union, said the two had worked out

terms for a provisional ceasefire. Sotakouzzi is on his way to present those to leaders in Georgia, where President Mikhail Sarkas Vili has continued his public defiance.
