All right, hello everyone. Welcome to Karen Affairs. We are here with Chris Smalls, founder of the

0:06.6

Amazon Labor Union, author of the new book When the Revolution Comes. We are here in Havana, Cuba right now,

0:15.5

with the New Easter America Mission. So Chris, how's it going? Yeah, it's good, man. Thank you for having me. I'm glad to be here.

0:22.9

So I want to start, we're going to get to the book and we're going to get to the union. But I want to

0:27.1

start with this aid mission that we're on now to Cuba. People probably know since the end of January

0:34.5

the Trump administration has had Cuba under total oil blockade, no fuel

0:39.5

coming in, blackouts happening all the time. So how do you get in touch with this mission?

international and cold pink pink representing over 130 different

0:57.1

organizations from around the world bringing about almost half a million dollars worth of

1:02.1

donations whether via via via flotilla that's on the ways and yeah you know this is definitely something

1:10.7

1:13.1

as you know, being on the Flotilla mission going to Gaza this past summer. But also previously,

1:18.9

I visited Havana, Cuba three years ago and did a similar mission with a smaller delegation,

1:25.7

bringing the labor delegation. Actually, I brought about 10 members from

1:29.0

my union down here to work with the community. And also at that time, we were dealing with the

1:35.0

similar issues, blockade on oil and inhumane conditions for the people of Cuba. So I'm just trying to,

1:43.9

you know, as a labor leader,

1:45.3

as a organizer and as a civilian with the freedoms and liberties that we have in America,

1:52.0

I want to see the people of Cuba be able to have the same type of freedom. Yeah, Sam. And that's

1:57.3

why we came here with, you know, the current affairs delegation, you know, me and Nathan Robinson.

2:02.5

So as you, we've been here now about two and a half days. I got here on Thursday.
