Summary

In the miraculous sign of the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus takes a few loaves and fish and miraculously feeds a multitude of people. This is the only one of Jesus’ miracles that’s told in all four gospels. And the gospel of John gives us the final discourse in which Jesus explains the meaning of the miracle. Jesus says it’s a symbol. Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” Let’s meditate on the aspects of that remarkable statement and look at 1) the meaning of bread in general, 2) the meaning of this bread in particular, and 3) why Jesus is able to give it to us. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 9, 2014. Series: Seeing Jesus. Scripture: John 6:1-14, 27-35.
