most everyone in town made their way to the popular North Florida Fair, where they watched Florida

State 10 to 1. Amongst the excited crowd was 17-year-old Norma Jeanette Sims. She had no clue that,

in choosing to attend the game that night, she effectively saved her own life. Not so lucky were the three members of her family who

decided to forego the fair. The Sims family consisted of 42-year-old Dr. Robert Sims, his 34-year-old

wife, Helen, and their three daughters, Norma Jeanette, 15-year-old Judith Ann, and the youngest, 12-year-old, Joy.

On the night of October 22nd, Judith Ann was out babysitting, while Norma attended the game.

The rest of the family, however, decided to stay home for the evening.

When Norma came home hours later, she found the TV was still on, but her parents and

sister were nowhere to be seen. As she looked further, though, she found her mother and father

bound and blindfolded in their bed, suffering from gunshot wounds, while her little sister Joy lay on the carpet, stabbed,
