Duka is the casual word that refers to all forms of human suffering from the most mundane inconveniences all the way to the great sufferings of old age,

sickness, and death. And the Buddha's entire teaching

was basically focused on minimizing human suffering.

That's really what he cared about.

He didn't, he wasn't a religious figure in the sense that he never proposed to talk about

where the earth came from. He had no interest in the nature of gods or deities. He had very little, to say

the least, metaphysics in his teachings. He was essentially a protosychologist,

and his concern was how do we alleviate suffering.

In fact, that's when he defined all of his darma

as towards alleviating needless suffering in life. So there are three kinds

of Dukka or suffering the Buddha Ta.

The first is what's called Dukka-Duka.

And Dukka-Duka is all the suffering that comes from physical pain.

That can mean old age, illness.

It can be the process of dying.
